I had to take a KLM flight as I was heading to a destination that Finnair doesn't fly to, or has too expensive connection with another airline. It was a decent experience, on some flights KLM has a sandwich and a small piece of banana bread, on others they have a small dry waffle. But smooth transition. Their 30-minutes-to-boarding-the-next-flight transition did involve a 27-minute walk, but I made it :-)
At other times there is a long wait at the airport, though, in my case six hours on the return flight. But I used it well by going for a swim and 747 visit (see other article, alt. link).
